11-day Morocco Discovery Tour From Casablanca “The Imperial cities and Sahara Desert”

Start your Morocco vacation from Casablanca Airport, to travel in Morocco with this 10-day multi-day tour that covers the visit of the Capital of Morocco; Rabat, the blue city of Chefchaouen, The imperial Cities of FezMeknes and Marrakech.Afterward, head towards the Sahara Desert to see the breathtaking sunset.

Besides, we will head to Merzouga Sahara by passing through a cedar forest where Barbary apes live. Later on, we will continue the journey to Sahara, we will spend some unforgettable moments, thereby doing a tour around Erg Chebbi Dunes, visiting nomad families, and ending by having a night in a desert camp. Furthermore, we will take a trip to Marrakech via visiting many places; we will visit the Gorge of Tudra and the Dades Valley. Day 1 Casablanca Arrival - Transfer to rabat

Overnight in: Rabat.
Meals: Breakfast

Once you land in Casablanca, the beauty of the Ocean, our local driver guide will pick you up at the exit of the airport. You will drive up north to Rabat, capital of Morocco; you will be taken to check-in at your hotel where you will be spending the night.

Day 2 Rabat - Chefchaouen

Overnight in: Chefchaouen.

After breakfast at your hotel, Begin your day with a captivating morning city tour of Rabat, the elegant capital of Morocco, where history and modern charm blend beautifully. Rabat was founded by Abd Al-Mu’min, a ruler of the Almohad dynasty for military reasons. It was built to serve as a fortress, hence its original name Ribatu l-Fath, meaning “stronghold of victory”.

Explore the city’s most iconic landmarks, starting with the Royal Palace (Dar al-Makhzen), the official residence of the King. Continue to the Hassan Tower, an impressive 12th-century minaret overlooking the Bou-Regreg River, and visit the Mausoleum of Mohammed V, a masterpiece of Moroccan architecture adorned with exquisite zellij and marble.

Next, stroll through the Kasbah of the Udayas, a UNESCO World Heritage site known for its white-and-blue-painted alleys and stunning views of the Atlantic Ocean. Take in the peaceful atmosphere and learn about Rabat’s fascinating history and cultural heritage.

After your tour, enjoy a traditional Moroccan lunch at a local restaurant, where you can savor authentic dishes such as tagine, couscous, or fresh seafood.

In the afternoon, depart for Chefchaouen, the famous “Blue Pearl” of Morocco, nestled in the Rif Mountains. Enjoy the scenic drive north as you pass through picturesque landscapes and traditional villages.

Upon arrival in Chefchaouen, check in at your hotel and relax for the evening, ready to explore the magical blue streets the next day.

Day 3 Chefchaouen

Immerse yourself in the peaceful beauty of Chefchaouen, Morocco’s famous Blue Pearl, where shades of blue paint every street and create a dreamlike atmosphere in the heart of the Rif Mountains.

Begin your day with a guided walking tour of the charming Medina, exploring its maze of blue-washed alleys, whitewashed walls, and colorful doors. Visit the Kasbah Museum in the main square, Plaza Uta el-Hammam, and admire its Andalusian gardens and historic artifacts. Continue past the Grand Mosque (exterior visit) and browse through the local souks, where artisans sell traditional crafts, woven textiles, and handmade pottery.

After your tour, enjoy a delicious traditional Moroccan lunch at a local restaurant, where you can taste authentic mountain cuisine.

Return to your hotel in the afternoon for some time to relax and refresh. You may choose to unwind on your terrace, explore nearby cafes, or simply soak in the peaceful rhythm of Chefchaouen.

As the day begins to fade, set out for the Spanish Mosque, located on a hill just outside the town. From this panoramic viewpoint, enjoy a breathtaking sunset over Chefchaouen’s blue rooftops and the surrounding Rif Mountains — an unforgettable way to end your day.

Day 4 Chefchaouen - Volubilis - Meknes - Fez

After breakfast, depart from Chefchaouen and journey south through the beautiful Rif Mountains toward the imperial heart of Morocco. Along the way, enjoy scenic views of lush valleys, olive groves, and traditional Berber villages.

Your first stop will be the ancient Roman ruins of Volubilis, a UNESCO World Heritage site and one of the most well-preserved archaeological sites in North Africa. With your local expert guide, explore the fascinating remains of this Roman city — its grand arches, intricate mosaics, temples, and the Capitol — and learn about Morocco’s rich and layered history that dates back over 2,000 years.

Continue your journey to the imperial city of Meknes, another UNESCO World Heritage site and one of Morocco’s most historic cities. Upon arrival, enjoy a traditional Moroccan lunch at a local restaurant, featuring regional specialties and fresh local ingredients.

After lunch, meet your local guide for a city tour of Meknes, once the glorious capital of Sultan Moulay Ismail in the 17th century. Visit the magnificent Bab Mansour Gate, one of Morocco’s most impressive city gates, and explore El Hedim Square, the Royal Stables, and the Mausoleum of Moulay Ismail, known for its beautiful architecture and spiritual significance.

In the late afternoon, depart Meknes and continue your journey to Fes, where you will arrive in the evening and check in to your hotel.

Day 5 Fez Exploration Tour

After breakfast at your hotel, enjoy your Fez Full day City tour.The imperial city of Fes is the city that most reflects the ancestral past of the Moroccan kingdom and its ancient civilization. It was and still remains the core of the intellectual and spiritual creativity, not only in Morocco, but also in the Islamic world. Fes houses the oldest university in the world, Al Quaraouiyyne and its ancient Medina was classified as Universal Heritage by UNESCO in 1981.

The medina: Traditionally your exploration of the medina should start at the Bab Boujlloud Gate. The first monument to visit is the vast Bou Inania medersa. As you continue along Talaa Kebira Street (big climb), you will particularly admire the Tijani zaouïa (zaouïa, sanctuary of a religious brotherhood) and the instrument makers’ souk before arriving at the mzara (shrine) of the ancient sovereign Moulay Idriss situated at the place where he took the decision to build the town. Once you have passed the babouche vendors, you arrive in En-Nejjarine Square and the cabinetmakers’ souk. The magnificent carved foundouk (caravanserai) on the square houses the Museum of Wooden Arts and Crafts. The kissaria (covered market), where jewellery and fine fabrics are on sold, is nearby (it is shut at night). Next to it, you can admire the most visited and revered attraction in Fès: the zaouïa of Moulay Idriss, founder of the town. Your walk continues on to Es-Seffarine Square, the coppersmith square, and then to the tanners’ quarter situated just before the Andalusian quarter with its mosque and the Es-Sahrij medersa.

Medresas: A Medersa is a school where the Koran is taught along with all the classic subject of learning: mathematics, grammar, history, astronomy, medicine… In Morocco, and especially in Fès, medersas have the important role of integrating students from other regions. Generally, they are built around a central courtyard with a fountain.

El-Attarine : The Merenids built this masterpiece between 1323 and 1325. Its central courtyard is magnificently decorated. Its walls are covered with sura engraved in wood or plaster. The fountain and marble columns are embellished with zellige (tiled mosaic).

Bou Inania : This Medersa, built between 1350 and 1357, is the biggest in Fès . Pass through the magnificent entrance with its heavy copper work doors, and then be impressed by the abundance of earthenware, the refinement of the sculptured wood and plaster and the chiselled stalactites called mukarnas, the hallmark of Merenid architecture. A canopy of typical Fès green tiles surmounts the onyx and marble courtyard.

Day 6 Fez - Ifrane - Midelt - Erfoud - Merzouga

Overnight in: Merzouga.

After breakfast, you’ll leave Fez to the Desert passing through the Middle Atlas Mountains and the Berber village of Immouzer Kandar and Ifrane, a wonderful mountains village, referred to as “the Switzerland of Morocco”. we arrive in the cedar forest of Azrou where we meet some Barbary macaque monkeys. We will continue at a time of Midelt, a beautiful village famous for its sweet apples, where we will stop for lunch. In the afternoon, after lunch, we will continue towards the desert of Merzouga via Errachidia and Erfoud. You will be travelling through the fascinating Tiz Ntalghamt pass and the Ziz Gorge, taking in views of the High Atlas plateau; you’ll notice how the scenery changes to reveal hints of the desert as you approach the city of Errachidia. Afterwards, you will travel along the luxuriant Ziz Valley, stopping for panoramic views along the way to Erfoud . Arrive at Merzouga guided by an experienced camel man to explore within the mysterious sand-sea of the Erg-Chebbi. On your way, pause to watch the sunset then continue your ride – seemingly in the middle of nowhere! Dinner and overnight will be under the stars, in a traditional Berber nomad tent

Day 7 Merzouga - Ouarzazate

Overnight in: Ouarzazate

Wake up at dawn to witness the sunrise in the middle of the dunes. Breakfast will be served and you can take a hot shower. After a short stop, departure in the direction of Todra Gorges, one of the most beautiful and impressive canyons in Morocco, which is so tight that is named after the human “throat” or gorge. You will have some time to walk through the canyon and enjoy the sight and the sound of the river passing through. Continue to Dades Valley, crossing the Valley of Roses, famous for the cultivation of damask rose from which the essence is extracted for the production of many cosmetics. We will visit the Gorges of Dades. The journey will continue in the direction of Ouarzazate, located in the Dades Valley, expanded in the twenties by the French as a military and administrative centre. Near the town are the Atlas Film Corporation Studios, the “Cinecittà” of Morocco, where several films were shot and set in the desert in the direction of Ouarzazate through the Draa Valley, rich in palm groves and Berber villages, arrival in Ouarzazate in the afternoon. Dinner and overnight in Riad or hotel.

Day 8 Ouarzazate - Marrakech

After breakfast, head north towards Marrakech passing through the Ait-Ben-Haddou kasbah declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, where you will make a short visit and then continue your journey through the mountains of the Grande Atlas until you reach the Tizi n'Tichka at 2,260 m (the highest mountain pass in the Atlas). Arrival in the evening in Marrakech.

Day 9 Marrakech City Tour

Overnight in: Marrakech.

After breakfast at your hotel, your driver guide will pick you up to start your guided tour. Today you will get the chance to wake up and live Marrakech, a dream of many, so be sure to make the best of it. Start with the tropical Majorelle Gardens, lovingly restored under the patronage of the late Yves St. Laurent. Continue to the defining landmark of Marrakech is the 12th-century tiled minaret of the Koutoubia mosque.

Visit Palais Bahia, a 19th century palace boasts a large courtyard, beautiful fountains, tiles, ornate wall-carvings, gardens, and is an excellent spot to find tranquillity and marvel at traditional Moroccan craftsmanship.

Optional Lunch at local restaurant. In the afternoon, visit the medieval Medersa ben Youssef (koranic university) – one of the finest Islamic monuments in North Africa. Explore the colourful Souks (marketplaces) of Marrakech. Each trade – spices, carpets, jewellery, enamel, copper, brass, and cedar – is situated in its unique quarter.

In the early evening, head towards the frenetic Djemaa el Fnaa. It provides ever-changing entertainment, reaching its climax at sunset when the square is alive with storytellers, healers, snake charmers, acrobats, and countless food stalls. We recommend a drink in one of the terraces overlooking the square.

Day 10 Marrakech To Casablanca

Overnight in: Casablanca.

After breakfast, depart from Marrakech and journey north toward Casablanca, Morocco’s largest city and economic capital. Enjoy a comfortable drive through changing landscapes — from the red earth plains of Marrakech to the Atlantic coast’s fresh sea breeze.

Upon arrival in Casablanca, meet your local licensed guide for a comprehensive city tour that showcases the modern spirit and cultural heritage of Morocco’s most cosmopolitan city.

Begin your visit at the magnificent Hassan II Mosque, one of the largest mosques in the world and a masterpiece of modern Islamic architecture, beautifully situated on the Atlantic Ocean. Continue along the Corniche of Ain Diab, a scenic coastal boulevard lined with cafes, restaurants, and beaches — perfect for a leisurely stroll and photo stops.

Next, explore the elegant Anfa district, home to Casablanca’s upscale neighborhoods and historic landmarks. Visit United Nations Square and Mohammed V Square, surrounded by impressive French-colonial buildings that reflect the city’s Art Deco charm.

Enjoy a delicious lunch at a local restaurant, where you can sample fresh seafood or classic Moroccan dishes while overlooking the ocean or in the heart of the city.

In the afternoon, continue your tour with a visit to the Habous Quarter, known as the “New Medina.” This charming district blends Moroccan tradition with French design, featuring artisan shops, bakeries, and peaceful courtyards.
