The Imperial Cities & Sahara Discovery Tour from Marrakech is a comprehensive journey through some of the country’s most iconic destinations. Starting in Marrakech the red city, Casablanca the economic capital of Morocco. Next, the tour will take you to Rabat, the political capital of Morocco, where you will visit the Royal Palace and the Hassan Tower. After Rabat, the tour will continue to the ancient Roman ruins of Volubilis and finally to the medieval city of Fez, a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its intricate architecture and rich history. Additionally, this tour takes you on a journey through the country’s most iconic destinations, including Merzouga Desert, Dades Valley, Ouarzazate, Kasbah Ait Benhaddou and ends in Marrakech.

Day 1 Arrival to Marrakech

Overnight in: Marrakech.
Meals: Breakfast

As you land in Marrakech, your Morocco Travels and Trips driver guide will welcome you and drive you to your hotel to check in and rest.

Day 2 Marrakech Exploration day

Overnight in: Marrakech.
Meals: Breakfast
Optional(s): Kotchi Experience (Carriage tour) – Lunch – Cooking Class – Hammam.

After breakfast at your hotel, your driver guide will pick you up to start your guided tour. Today you will get the chance to wake up and live Marrakech, a dream of many, so be sure to make the best of it. After your breakfast our local guide and driver guide will be waiting for you to start this full day tour of the “Ochre City”. We will visit first in the morning the Majorelle Garden which was named after the French painter, Jacques Majorelle who dedicated a lot of effort and passion to this art piece. After Majorelle let’s continue after it to Menara and though the name in Arabic translates to “lighthouse”, it is actually a pavilion with a basin and a garden of orchards and olives trees. We will be heading afterwards to the Koutobia Mosque and through the Jewish quarter called Mallah, continue to with the visit of Bahia Palace.

Day 3 Marrakech-Casablanca -Rabat

Overnight in: Rabat.
Meals: Breakfast

After breakfast, we will leave Marrakech towards Rabat, the capital city of Morocco. On the route, stop at Casablanca for an exterior visit of the Hassan II mosque, an Architectural master peace overlooking the Atlantic coast of Casablanca. Continue afterwards to the Mohammed V Quarter, the Place des Nations. Afterwards, the trip will continue to the Imperial City of Rabat it will revolve around uncovering the history of Rabat. The tour includes a visit to Chellah and Kasbah Ouddaya.

After the orientation tour, check-in in your hotel.

Day 4 Rabat - Chefchaouen

Overnight in: Chefchaouen.
Meals: Breakfast

After breakfast at your hotel, you will drive towards the blue City. Cut into the sides of two mountains, Chefchaouen “Blue Pearl” is a city with blue and white lime-washed houses. A powerful charm that you really can feel in the Outa-el-Hammam square, in the cobblestone medina. we recommend you to preparer your camera to take some beautiful photos during your tour, Sat on the terrace of a cafe, you can enjoy the attractive view of the grand Tarik-Ben-Ziad mosque whose octagonal minaret is inspired by that of the Torre de Oro in Seville. This Andalusian architecture can be found in the Kasbah and its gardens, at the center of the medina. Its walls and its 11 crenellated towers, of which one used to be a dungeon, house an interesting ethnographic museum.

Day 5 Chefchaouen-Meknes -Volubilis-Fes

Overnight in: Fes.

After breakfast, we will quit Chefchaouen for Fes, we will be making a stop by Volubilis and Meknes on our way. The archeological site of Volubilis is listed by the UNESCO as a world heritage. You will walk around the remains of the Roman and Berber cultures that once occupied it. Afterwards, the trip will continue to the Imperial City of Meknes, one of Morocco’s lesser-visited. It was built by Moulay Ismail and was conceived to be the ‘Versailles of Morocco’.  Once you meet your local guide, you’ll be able to visit the famed gate of Bab El Mansour, and Lhri. These sites are the main beating veins of the city. We will then continue our way to Fes.

Day 6 Fez Exploration day

The imperial city of Fes is the city that most reflects the ancestral past of the Moroccan kingdom and its ancient civilization. It was and still remains the core of the intellectual and spiritual creativity, not only in Morocco, but also in the Islamic world. Fes houses the oldest university in the world, Al Quaraouiyyne and its ancient medina was classified as Universal Heritage by UNESCO in 1981.

The medina: Traditionally your exploration of the medina should start at the Bab Boujlloud Gate. The first monument to visit is the vast Bou Inania medersa. As you continue along Talaa Kebira Street (big climb), you will particularly admire the Tijani zaouïa (zaouïa, sanctuary of a religious brotherhood) and the instrument makers’ souk before arriving at the mzara (shrine) of the ancient sovereign Moulay Idriss situated at the place where he took the decision to build the town. Once you have passed the babouche vendors, you arrive in En-Nejjarine Square and the cabinetmakers’ souk. The magnificent carved foundouk (caravanserai) on the square houses the Museum of Wooden Arts and Crafts. The kissaria (covered market), where jewellery and fine fabrics are on sold, is nearby (it is shut at night). Next to it, you can admire the most visited and revered attraction in Fès: the zaouïa of Moulay Idriss, founder of the town. Your walk continues on to Es-Seffarine Square, the coppersmith square, and then to the tanners’ quarter situated just before the Andalusian quarter with its mosque and the Es-Sahrij medersa.

Medresas: A Medersa is a school where the Koran is taught along with all the classic subject of learning: mathematics, grammar, history, astronomy, medicine… In Morocco, and especially in Fès, medersas have the important role of integrating students from other regions. Generally they are built around a central courtyard with a fountain.

El-Attarine : The Merenids built this masterpiece between 1323 and 1325. Its central courtyard is magnificently decorated. Its walls are covered with sura engraved in wood or plaster. The fountain and marble columns are embellished with zellige (tiled mosaic).

Bou Inania : This Medersa, built between 1350 and 1357, is the biggest in Fès . Pass through the magnificent entrance with its heavy copper work doors, and then be impressed by the abundance of earthenware, the refinement of the sculptured wood and plaster and the chiselled stalactites called mukarnas, the hallmark of Merenid architecture. A canopy of typical Fès green tiles surmounts the onyx and marble courtyard.

Day 7 Fes - Ifrane - Azrou - Midelt - Errachidia - Erfoud - Merzouga

Overnight in: Merzouga.

After a hearty breakfast, you will start 'early in the morning. After crossing the mountains of the Middle Atlas, we drive to Ifrane nicknamed "Little Switzerland" so that, for a moment, there seem to be in Morocco. Through this unusual landscape, we arrive in the cedar forest of Azrou where we meet some ape. We will continue at a time of Midelt, beautiful village famous for its sweet apples, and walking between the houses we will stop for lunch. In the afternoon, after lunch, we will continue towards the desert of Erg Chebbi. Along the way you will be able to admire the beautiful Ziz Gorges with its picturesque valley of palm trees, mountains and ancient Kasbhe. In the evening, arrived at Erg Chebbi, you can 'enjoy a delicious dinner in a typical riad or at a local Kasbha.

Day 8 MERZOUGA – DADÈS - DRAA VALLEY – OUARZAZATE

Overnight in: Ouarzazate.
Meals: Breakfast & Diner

Wake up at dawn to witness the sunrise in the middle of the dunes, return by dromedary to the riad where breakfast will be served and you can take a hot shower. After a short stop, departure in the direction of Rissani, where you can visit the famous and lively market. Continue to Dades Valley, crossing the Valley of Roses, famous for the cultivation of damask rose from which the essence is extracted for the production of many cosmetics. We will visit the Gorges of Dades. The journey will continue in the direction of Ouarzazate, located in the Dades Valley, expanded in the twenties by the French as a military and administrative centre. Near the town are the Atlas Film Corporation Studios, the “Cinecittà” of Morocco, where several films were shot and set in the desert in the direction of Ouarzazate through the Draa Valley, rich in palm groves and Berber villages, arrival in Ouarzazate in the afternoon. Dinner and overnight in Riad or hotel.

Day 9 OUARZAZATE - AIT-BEN-HADDOU - MARRAKECH

Overnight in: Marrakech.
Meals: Breakfast

After breakfast, head north towards Marrakech passing through the Ait-Ben-Haddou kasbah declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, where you will make a short visit and then continue your journey through the mountains of the Grande Atlas until you reach the Tizi n'Tichka at 2,260 m (the highest mountain pass in the Atlas). Arrival in the evening in Marrakech.

Day 10 MARRAKECH Departure:

Breakfast at your hotel and transfer to the airport of Marrakech according to your flight schedule.
