Our Sahara Desert Tour from Marrakech begins as we leave the energy of the city behind and travel along the dramatic roads leading to Ouarzazate, crossing the breathtaking landscapes of the High Atlas Mountains.
Along the way, we visit the famous Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou, standing at 1,160m. Once a key stop for caravans crossing the Sahara, this UNESCO World Heritage Site is also known for its appearance in legendary films such as Lawrence of Arabia and Gladiator.
The tour continues toward the desert with visits to Erfoud, the rose-growing region of Kelaa Megouna, and Boumalne Dades, offering panoramic views of ancient kasbahs, lush valleys, and rugged mountains. We also explore Tinghir and the spectacular Todra Gorges, one of Morocco’s top destinations for trekking and rock climbing, with towering cliffs and countless climbing routes.

Your Morocco Travels And Trips driver will meet you at Marrakech Menara airport, then you will be escorted to your hotel in an air-conditioned vehicle. Check in at your hotel. Dinner at leisure and overnight in Marrakech.
After breakfast, depart from Marrakech and head south towards Ait-Ben-Haddou. Travel along the winding roads of the High Atlas Mountains, crossing the spectacular Tizi n’Tichka Pass at 2,260 m — the highest mountain pass in the Atlas. Continue your journey through breathtaking mountain landscapes until you reach the famous Ait-Ben-Haddou Kasbah, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Upon arrival, enjoy a visit to explore this remarkable fortified village. Many of the Hollywood movies were filmed there such as the Gladiator, Kingdom of Heaven, Game of Thrones, etc. You will continue your journey towards Dades Valley, through the Kalaat Mgouna, Skoura (Berber villages around the valley) and you will spend the night in Boumalne Dades.
We will leave Dades valley in the morning, after your breakfast and shower and head towards Todra Gorges, one of the most beautiful and impressive canyons in Morocco, which is so tight that is named after the human “throat” or gorge. You will have some time to walk through the canyon and enjoy the sight and the sound of the river passing through.
From Todra Gorge you will continue towards Merzouga through breath-taking landscapes and along with many oasis of palm trees. We will pass through the small town of Erfoud, where you’ll feel the beginning of the Saharan oasis of Tafilalet and then continue to Merzouga. Arrived at Erg Chebbi. Depending on your arrival time, you will be welcomed with a traditional Moroccan tea, you will have some time to relax before the camel trek, or you will start the right away to spend the night in the desert in a Berber camp.When you arrive at the camp, you will enjoy the sights of the Sahara dunes and the sunset, later on the dinner will be served in the main tent (restaurant). After dinner, you will enjoy the desert music played by locals and a camp fire. Don’t forget to look up in the sky, to find an amazing view of countless stars.
The camel trek starts around 17:00 -18:00 in the summer and around 16:00 – 17:00 in the winter and takes around 1 hour.
After breakfast, we leave Merzouga toward to Rissani is the ancient capital of Tafilalet (once Sijilmassa ) is the foundation of the Alaouite dynasty, the current ruling family. With most of the women veiled, and men hooded, this is a very traditional Moroccan town, also it was a major road of caravan and considered as a commercial center in the region with a large market “Souk”. We will continue our journey by driving toward the Draa Valley bypassing Alnif where would have a break for coffee and a toilet, then later continue our trip to N’Qob to have lunch there, then later we carry on our trip to Agdz by overpass the Draa Valley; considered as the most extensive river here in Morocco at 1,100 kilometers and it flows out from mountains of High Atlas. In addition to that, the Draa valley knowing with it’s a stunning oasis home to Berber villages, impressive kasbahs, and the snow-capped Atlas Mountains. Thereafter, we carry forward to Ouarzazate by crossing Ait Saouen pass. Spend your night at Riad including dinner and breakfast.
After breakfast, Begin your adventure in the heart of Ouarzazate, the gateway to the desert and the world of cinema. Your day starts with an immersive visit to the Kasbah Taourirt, a masterpiece of southern Moroccan architecture. Wander through its maze-like corridors, beautifully decorated rooms, and ancient towers that echo tales of the powerful Glaoui dynasty.
Next, step into movie magic at the legendary Atlas Studios, the largest film studios in Africa. Explore famous film sets used in international productions and discover how Ouarzazate became known as the “Hollywood of Africa.”
After these unforgettable experiences, enjoy a breathtaking journey through the High Atlas Mountains. Traverse picturesque valleys, traditional Berber villages, and the winding Tizi n’Tichka Pass—one of Morocco’s most scenic routes.

Start with the tropical Majorelle Gardens, lovingly restored under the patronage of the late Yves St. Laurent. Continue to the defining landmark of Marrakech is the 12th-century tiled minaret of the Koutoubia mosque.
Visit Palais Bahia, a 19th century palace boasts a large courtyard, beautiful fountains, tiles, ornate wall-carvings, gardens, and is an excellent spot to find tranquillity and marvel at traditional Moroccan craftsmanship.
Optional Lunch at local restaurant. In the afternoon, visit the medieval Medersa ben Youssef (koranic university) – one of the finest Islamic monuments in North Africa. Explore the colourful Souks (marketplaces) of Marrakech. Each trade – spices, carpets, jewellery, enamel, copper, brass, and cedar – is situated in its unique quarter.
In the early evening, head towards the frenetic Djemaa el Fnaa. It provides ever-changing entertainment, reaching its climax at sunset when the square is alive with storytellers, healers, snake charmers, acrobats, and countless food stalls. We recommend a drink in one of the terraces overlooking the square.
